From the first time I heard this story, it was like a knife to the heart. She had the same brain tumor my mother and grandfather died of. Glioblastoma is so deadly because the tumor is like a spider--you can have surgery to remove the body but those tendrils remain embedded. It spreads so fast and decimates the body and mind in its wake. My family and my loved ones were blessed with the fact that their suffering was so limited--so many answered prayers on that one. Ive gone back and forth on whether this should have been newsworthy, but since the days of Dr. Kevorkian, the right to die is a hotbed issue. In the end, its between that person and their belief system. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and family during this difficult time.
