From the introduction to Living Vividly: Far too many people are complacent to live in a negative cycle of misery and nonsensical drudgery. They derive their sense of self-esteem from their scars, worries, complaints, and drama. They say they dont like it, but lets be honest, they do, and we know that they do, because we have all been there at some point. It often involves much self-loathing or harshness inside. Sometimes an experience is sharp enough, and it slices into you in just the right way, and the putrid venom you wall inside yourself projectile vomits onto those around you. This is how most arguments start. If youre reading this, theres a good chance you may have once been one of those people. Maybe you still are. Theres also a good chance that you are at, or have experienced, that point, that ineffable, agonizing, writhing point where you couldnt take the searing torture of the constant war inside anymore. So sick and damn tired of being sick and tired that you want to throw your hands up, scream at the heavens, fine, you freaking win!!, and perhaps put on sweats and sleep for a week. Or two. Or leave society even. Or we try to leave society, and ourselves, and numb ourselves with crappy food, chasing highs, chasing lows, or any other way to somehow make it stop stabbing you in the soul for a minute. That is the moment when everything authentic begins. Unbeknownst to you, while you are crying like someone died for no apparent reason, you are completely perfectly right. Someone died, and its you. But the good news is that I mean this quite metaphorically. And the even more outstanding news is that all that is passing away is a collection of unconscious, unquestioned habits and views that are the main cause of your constant struggle anyhow. This is the beginning of consciousness. You are waking up. You are pouring that baggage right out of your soul, you are breaking down a wall, and letting the deluge out that has been trapped for far too long. And you feel a little better. And thats how this process goes. This is a book for you. To help you understand that you are not crazy, not wierd, not broken. To remember how to be happy and free like a kid, and how to keep your responsibilities fulfilled, and how to listen to your truth, and stop living a lie. This is the beginning of an authentic life. One that isnt hell. In fact, one in which you feel most days are the greatest days of your life. Im not kidding! You can feel this good: because I was once incredibly miserable and rotting from the inside out too, and I somehow found an unfathomable amount of happiness and confidence. I am not more special than you are, or anymore worthy. So if I can make the shift, you definitely can. And so here we are. I want to help you figure this out and make it happen. And, here we go...
