From the look of things and how events are slowly unfolding in Taraba state, the political calculations of the politicians that master-minded the ouster of the former acting governor Garba Umar UTC is not going to yield the result they desire. Their aim is to carefully craft a path which the political power of the state will shift to the southern zone. They succeeded in their mission to get Garba UTC out of power, but they also succeeded in reinstalling the former deputy governor back to power. The now acting governor is also from the northern zone and from Karim- Lamido LG like his predecessor. The glitch in the master plan and the fly in the ointment of the master minders is that the power is still in the northern zone of the state; and the question in everybody’s mind is that will the northern zone relinquish power to the southern zone without a fight? Will the son’s of Muri that are beneficiaries of this power change support a candidate from the southern geopolitical zone? Will the acting governor himself act according to their script and support the emergence of a southern candidate at the PDP primaries? On the other side; in the governorship race there are two candidates from the northern zone that were successfully screened; the former acting governor Garba Umar UTC himself and Ambassador Musa John, both indigenes of Karim-Lamido LG. As it is now the political guns are silent; for now… And one thing is certain; the acting governor is a seasoned politician. He has seen the ups and downs of political struggles. He is a man known by all as a fearless politician that has once stepped on the toes of his godfathers. A legendary political fighter from the grassroot. When he was impeached in 2012 many regarded it as a situation of a tiger being finally caged. Now the tiger is being released, but will his political benefactors be able to tame him? Only time will tell… And there is not much time left…
