From the outside, its easy to see the changes at Chiloquin Junior/Senior High School. The 52-year-old building has a new bright blue exterior where workers built new walls, installed new windows and covered them with new metal siding. Its a good feeling for the Klamath County School District, which is ticking away at a long list of projects funded by the $31 million facilities bond voters passed in May 2013 – $2.3 million of which was slated for Chiloquin High. “With the new bond money were not only able to capture the energy efficiencies, but were also able to do some quality maintenance items as far as the outside – whether its a roof, or metal or painting. A lot of its aesthetics,” said Justin Azevedo, maintenance manager for the district. “The public can tell that something has happened.” “It looks great. I think its turned out well. I think everything we had hoped for is realized. Structurally the building is more sound. We gained a lot of energy efficiency with new walls, windows, upgraded heating system, the lights – its just better,” said Klamath County School District Superintendent Greg Thede, who visited the school on Friday. “These repairs were very much needed and its turned out great.” Read this story in the print and e-editions of the Tuesday Herald and News.
