From the page: On Friday, Columbia Records’ artists gathered to celebrate the iconic label’s chairman, Rob Stringer, as the Music Visonary of the Year, awarded by the UJA-Federation of New York. Pictured below are Adele, Joy Williams of The Civil Wars, John Mayer, MGMT, Haim, Passion Pit, John Legend, Neil Diamond, Darren Criss and Stringer. At Pierre Hotel. David has worked with or admired a number of the talented people in the picture. On a lite and airy Saturday, here’s a sampling of the connection: David has talked about Joy Williams of The Civil Wars on a number of occasions, but I loved what he said in an October 2009 interview with Brian Mansfield of USA Today/Idol Chatter. “She really pays attention to what I have to say, what’s going on in my mind,” David says. “She wants to make sure that what’s coming out of me is really what I want to talk about, what I feel, what I connect with.
