From the pastor at St. Charles Borromeo, the home of Detroit Mass Mob II, Fr. Ray Stadmeyer. A friend sent me this reflection and I liked it so I thought I’d share it with you. . The Train of Life At birth we board the train and meet our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant (siblings, friends, children and even the love of our life). Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we don’t realize they have vacated their seats. The train ride will be filled with joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists in having a good relationship with all the passengers on the train which requires we give the best of ourselves. The mystery for everyone is: We don’t know at which station we will step down. So we must live in the best way by loving, forgiving, and offering others the best of who we are. It’s important to do this because when it comes time for us to step down and leave our seat empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who continue to travel on the train of life. May you have a joyful journey on the train of life. Reap success and give lots of love. Most importantly, thank God for this wonderful journey called your Life. (Thanks for being on the Train with me, St. Charles!!)
