From the recent #mountdmeet You will never see the same sunrise twice and when you live in San Francisco there are endless vantage points with breathtaking views of SF in all its glory. Originally called Blue Mountain until 1881, Mount Davidson is the highest natural point in the city at 928 feet (283 m) Built in 1934, at 103ft (31 m) high, the cross atop Mount Davidson is an amazing site with an interesting and controversial history. There have been three different crosses from 1923 to 1931 and eventually the City purchased the 20 acres for use as a park. Amid turmoil over Separation of Church and State the City of San Francisco was sued over its ownership of the Cross and in 1997, after a long legal battle, had to auction off the Cross to the highest bidder. The Council of Armenian American Organizations of Northern California won the bid at $26,000 and dedicated the cross as a memorial for the Victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. Interesting, right?! Again it’s very inspiring how @instagram brings such creative people together. It was my second #instameet and I was quiet that morning, I don’t know if It was my hangover or just being in awe of the experience. Who knows, maybe it was both. Either way It was nice to see you all again and meet some new people. Next time I’ll be a little more social.
