From the truly amazing Japanese band Plastics comes the song Park. I played Park for Marc after our recording session today and he fell in love with it instantly, of course. I think I posted this about a year ago here, but Im posting it again. Its elegiac yet poppy, it has a slight Bowie edge to it yet is thoroughly their own sound. I had this one song on constant repeat for about a year after I bought the album Welcome Back in 1981, lifting the tone arm and replacing it over and over and over and over again on this song. Not that the rest of the album isnt excellent. It is, but this is just one of those perfect songs. Saw them on their first and perhaps only US tour and cried when they played this song, moving my way backwards out to the edge of the sweaty boing-boing-boing audience mashed against the stage just to take it all in. Yeah, shoot me. I cried. And the video of someones record player simply spinning away is oddly perfect as well.
