From their church-protective coverage of the Tuam Babies issue to their myopic and one-sided (with some rare exceptions) reporting of the slaughter in Gaza the Irish Times are becoming more ultra conservative by the day....but this article by Stephen Collins is a new low. If he had any conscience Collins should be ashamed of himself for writing this. I watched the coverage of the interchange between Mary Lou McDonald and Moan Burton. Burton was a disgrace and not once did she display any empathy with the plight of the Palestinians. Collins attacks SF for calling for a minutes silence for the dead in Gaza. Nobody was bullied. By that rationale Collins is trying to bully me into supporting Israel!!! The man is an absolute disgrace to use the opportunity to attack SF for his own ends when those politicians who actually care try to send a message to Palestine that those in the Irish parliament stand in solidarity with the innocent dead in Gaza. Those like Mary Lou, Richard Boyd Barrett, Clare Daly, Mick Wallace, Lynn Boylan have shown their mettle...I wait to be corrected but have any government or FF TDs made any statements of any worth?? Stephen Collins is a disgrace and an utterly contemptible human being. People are dying Mr Collins. Leave your civil war attitudes at the door and maybe use your position as a journalist to actually help the oppressed. For shame Mr Collins for shame. Mo náire thú
