From time to time, we all take a step back and take a close look at our daily diet: whats working, whats not, and how can we improve? Unfortunately, it is at this point that we tend to focus on the negative instead of the positive. A theory we learned in nutrition school sticks out to me when I take my step back - the crowding out theory. Instead of focusing on all the foods you need to eliminate from your diet, focus on the foods you should add in instead. Everyone can eat more veggies and fruit and drink more water. When you add in more healthful choices, you will naturally crowd out your desire for the more unhealthy choices. This certainly does not happen overnight, but over time, you will not only feel better, you will be more peaceful with your approach to food.
