From todays SA... Woolsey gets most snaps at QB during UH football practice By Stephen Tsai University of Hawaii quarterback Ikaika Woolsey got the majority of work with the first-team offense during the second practice of spring training Thursday morning on the schools grass practice field. Woolseys rotation status did not mean he had solidified a place atop the depth chart. The Rainbow Warriors remain faithful to a schedule of extending the quarterback competition through the summer. Jeremy Higgins and Taylor Graham took the other snaps. The Warriors have been cautious with Graham, who underwent surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder in January. Quarterback Beau Reilly, who watched Thursdays practice from the sideline, is scheduled to join the Warriors in June when his scholarship is activated. The Warriors also had planned to use running back Joey Iosefa sparingly this spring. Iosefa missed all or parts of eight games last year because of a foot injury. But Iosefa showed his surprising quickness in running pass routes during team drills. Its great to have [Iosefa] out there, Woolsey said. Beau Yap, who played defensive end the previous three seasons, did well in pass coverage in his new role as an outside linebacker. The Warriors switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 front this spring, a scheme that allows Yap the flexibility of aligning near the line of scrimmage as a rush end or dropping into pass coverage. Following Tuesdays practice, head coach Norm Chow abruptly canceled media interviews in response to Honolulu Star-Advertiser columnist Dave Reardons presence. The two put aside their differences in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday morning. After Thursday mornings practice, Chow and Reardon shook hands.
