From Roger Mickelson, Albuquerque -- On July 5, 1687, Isaac Newton first published his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, a three-volume work setting out his principles of natural philosophy. The mechanics of the Principia was an exact quantitative description of the motions of visible bodies. It rested on Newtons three laws of motion: (1) that a body remains in its state of rest unless it is compelled to change that state by a force impressed on it; (2) that the change of motion (the change of velocity times the mass of the body) is proportional to the force impressed; (3) that to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Source material includes Associated Press International and Encyclopædia Britannica. ------- SylviaBokorComments: The publication of the Principia was of enormous consequences to western cultures. It set the stage for the Enlightenment and inspired such overwhelming admiration for Newtons accomplishment that within 100 years, the United States was on its way to becoming the greatest nation in history. Newtons style of thinking -- cognitive integration -- showed men what could be accomplished, and influenced thousands of individuals to follow his example, thus beginning an era of unprecedented invention, discovery and cultural advance. Newton remains the greatest scientist that has ever lived. His kind of thinking is the kind we desperately need today, as it is the only kind that can stop and reverse todays trend toward totalitarianism. +++++++ 6. From Tea Party Command Center. HHS adds 1296 pages of Regulations to ObamaCare. The department of Health and Human Services released 1296 pages of confusing regulations for Obamacare at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, July 3rd, the day before the holiday. . . . The regulations cover fees and payment schedules for doctors and hospitals. They have use of equipment payment schedules by the minute. They reward doctors for “improving quality” of services to seniors. . . . . Doctors and hospitals will be looking at . . . lots more paperwork. There is nothing the government doesn’t control. Doctors are now employees of the federal government and they have been charged with reducing costs. Doctors have no means by which to question the schedules they must follow. There are no real appeal processes though HHS promises there will be one. Doctors will be required to hire someone who only handles these regulations because of the complexity. . . . They need a lot more of this to cover the 13,000 pages of rules for the 2700 page law that continually changes thanks to Obama’s mindset that he can rewrite laws written by Congress. From the Washington Examiner --HHS releases 1,296 pages of regulations ahead of holiday weekend. As Americans scrambled ahead of the July Fourth holiday weekend on Thursday afternoon, the Department of Health and Human Servicesreleased 1,296 pages of new regulations dealing with payment rates to doctors and hospitals. The timing of the news release is part of a long pattern for President Obamas administration, which has often used holidays as an opportunity to dump dense regulatory changes when most reporters and Americans are focused on their holiday plans. The release came at 4:15 p.m. Last year, the Obama administration used the days surrounding the July 4th holiday as an opening to announce a delay to the employer mandate and to disclose the fact that the exchanges would operate on the honor system, doling out benefits without properly verifying information provided by applicants. washingtonexaminer/hhs-releases-1296-pages-of-regulations-ahead-of-holiday-weekend/article/2550506 ===###===
