From what I understand, you dump water on your head as an ALTERNATIVE to donating money.... No one gets that... If that is the case, all of these videos of people calling out their neighbors so that they can see them doused with ice, means that all of these people are passing on the donating and choosing the water instead? I have not seen any challenge videos where the people actually spoke about the disease to bring awareness. I have spoken to several people who have participated the ice water dumping and dont even really know anything about ALS? Seriously? You should have spent the time that it took you to make the video, and instead educated yourself on the disease and see if this organization is something that is funding the proper research that needs to actually be done to find a cure. Quite a bit of money has been raised, that is great but it is all for not if it is just being spent on pharmaceutical research which helps big pharma and I think we all know that they dont need help. Research needs to be done on alternative cures if we really want to make a large impact. I feel for the individuals who are stricken with this, I really do, and to show them compassion and respect, I feel they would be better served if we passed on the ice cold water, got out from behind or in front of the video camera, and actually learned more about ALS, this foundation, their research, and so forth. Donations are fine and we dont need to make a show of the whole thing when we practice charity. Charity should be done with a humble and less narcissistic spirit. But that is just my humble opinion.
