Frozen Ocean - One of my favorite images of winter in Maine. This is sea ice on Middle Bay in Brunswick. My friend Don Seymour and I walked out on a very cold morning two years ago across this otherworldly landscape. I ventured out to Crow Island, yes, walking across the ice, to capture these ice formations, caused when the lowering tide dropped the ice shelf on top of rocks on the sea bed. The first rays of sunlight lit up the formations beautifully, and I had about 30 seconds to get the shot before the effect vanished.
