Fruits ~~~~~ Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. ~~~~~~~ What are the fruits..?? Are they the things that are done..?? The number of people in a church..?? The amount of children you have..?? What are the fruits and how will the fruits let us know them..?? Here is another message that kinda gives the idea that we should know what fruits to choose. ~~~~~~~ Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: ~~~~~~~ I believe by fruits here, Jesus is referring to the fruit of their lips (see Isa. 57:19 and Heb. 13:15) and of their mind (Jer. 6:19). Hes talking about false prophets (and by extension, I believe, their heretical doctrines of demons practiced even today in our world by otherwise ostensibly intelligent people residing in civilized societies--those cunningly devised fables Peter mentions in II Pet. 1:16 and that Paul speaks of in II Tim. 4:4), as He mentioned just before this (Matt. 7:15). And (in Matt. 7:16) He goes on to hypothetically ask if such fruits can nourish (Spiritually) the brethren, as grapes and figs would our physical bodies, if they are gathered from thorns or thistles. These are identified as cares and riches and pleasures of this life at Luke 8:14, a commonly-sought-after thing among many of those who would sell salvation as a merchant of piousity to the simple-hearted (see Rom. 16:18). He couldnt have been talking about the fruits of the Spirit, mentioned in Gal. 5:22-23, because THOSE fruits are from the Spirit of Truth (see John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13 and I John 4:6). The Spirit can not be Truth AND false at the same time. Since these false prophets are not born again to HAVE the Holy Spirit (by Whom these fruits are grown within us--John 3:3), then Im thinking the fruits He mentions here are whatever would equate to grapes of thorns and figs of thistles. This is why--in large part--I get the notion I do that thorns and thistles of THIS life (II Tim. 2:4) are nothing but a snare and a trap (Job 18:10) for anyone who walx through this world after Jesus, which walk REQUIRES faith (II Cor. 5:7), when that faith is not ENOUGH to believe that whatever we hear in our news headlines from those fear-mongers who (unwittingly or otherwise) do satans dirty-work FOR him, the Good Shepherd is STILL in control of our walk AND our world, and for us to swallow the fear being peddled is to stumble into thorns and thistles rather than to walk over them. Let us examine ourselves (II Cor. 13:5). Has our faith become our patriotism or political persuasion..?? Have we confused social-ills and the evil man has ALWAYS been capable of doing to man (BECAUSE of the free-will we are all given), which we have no control over since this is NOT our world in the first place, with worship in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24)..?? Have any of us YET been given the solution to these and other of the worlds problems, which would of necessity AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE the power and will to implement it immediately and to save the world from the ultimate destruction Gods Word concludes it WILL follow itself into..?? Any of us chosen for such a calling..?? Or are we given the daily bread of faith enough to nurture our trust that God is bigger and greater than any man or group of men and only He can--and WILL--decide what happens in the world today, anywhere IN His world, and the assurance that we need not concern ourselves with tomorrow (Matt. 6:34) because Jesus may come for us tonight..?? You wanna fight satan back..?? Get right up in the face of fear--his face--and when it begins to scare you the most, look within yourself for He Who is your Hope of glory (Col. 1:27) and in unison WITH Him say to fear as follows: GOD IS STILL IN COMPLETE CONTROL..!! ~~~~~~~ PEACE I leave with you, MY peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
