Frustration, isolation, loss of identity, disenchantment, upsetting of primordial values, excessive and passive use of technology, uniformity to mass choices, awareness of being by appearing: these are some of the sensations perceived by those who critically observe the everyday life of the third millennium. An imprisonment that is not necessarily physical but that makes us feel removed from every form of culture and, at the same time, transforms the mirror into something that unforgivingly reflects the image of the confusion that pervades us. We cannot see beyond and communication 2.0 becomes a methadone that accentuates the loneliness of our souls. To feel better, we revert to television, the only true source of what we call reality. Show business has degenerated and wants to build loyalty in us through false, easy, mass knowledge: everything seems within our reach and makes us feel important, but in reality it is drawing us into a dimension that is one of only surface. Even arts – to be retained such – must pretend to come out of a monitor. What should man do to take back his own life? Should he start to dream again, to foster conscious illusions and to believe in the future? Marcantonio Lunardi is telling us the true fairy tale of the life of the here and now. Let’s look into his images because “Show can’t go on”. Maurizio Vanni in exhibition The Choir, Default, 370 new world: tiny.cc/wf1ukx
