Fugitive Suspect Arrested In Ex-Minister’s Robbery Case By Aminaash Natta Brima Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Freetown Court No.2 was on Tuesday 28th October 2014 informed that the fugitive suspect, Alie Jalloh, in the robbery case of the former Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Dr. Soccoh Alex Kabia, has been arrested and is presently in police custody helping with investigations. The lead defense counsel, E.T. Koroma made the disclosure after the matter was called for hearing, a statement that was confirmed by the complainant. Magistrate Kamanda reiterated his determination to get to the root of the matter, punish all the suspects in the robbery and urged the police to arrest and charge the suspects underscoring that robbery with aggravation is a heinous crime which he considers as murder. At this stage, lead defense counsel, E. T. Koroma renewed his application for bail on behalf of the accused, Mohamed Kamara, alias Med Lash, arguing that the prime suspect who sold the Apple I Pad to the accused has been arrested by the police with the help of the relatives of the accused, a development he said would facilitate the matter as well as secure bail for the accused which was objected to by the Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 922 Dumbuya J. According to Sergeant 922 Dumbuya J, he was not aware that the fugitive suspect has been arrested and that despite his arrest, he has not been charged to court adding that the offence for which the accused is arraigned is grave and affirmed that if granted, would jump bail and also interfere with the prosecution witness (s). Responding, Magistrate Kamanda said that armed robbery is on the increase for which suspects would not be granted bail, a stance he would never compromise nor relent until he puts armed robbers out of business. Due to the gravity of the matter, the accused, Mohamed Kamara, alias Med Lash, was not granted bail by the Magistrate who ordered his remand while the matter was adjourned to 4th November 2014. It could be recalled that on the last adjournment, Magistrate Kamanda threatened to remand the Chairman of the Belgium Sellers’ Association, Oseh Davies if he does not help the police to arrest the runaway suspect, Alie Jalloh, as he was the surety who bailed him at the New England Police Station when they were arrested after which he escaped.
