Full Moon-Minglewood Rising -Sam Moon & Matt Minglewood Long time friends and musicians Sam Moon & Matt Minglewood have quite the musical history. The Cape Breton duo are no strangers on the Canadian touring circuit. They started performing together in 1969 in a band called ‘Sam Moon, Matt Minglewood & the Universal Power’. When the band disbanded they went on to form the ‘Moon Mingelwood Band’ In 1973 they went their separate ways. Matt had one foot steeped in the musical roots of blues and the other knee-deep in country & rock while Sam has one foot steeped in R&B & the other in folk while both love to rock. Finally, 40 plus years later they have teamed up to present a musical reunion tour called ‘Full Moon Minglewood Rising’. The acoustic leg of the tour will feature two friends performing their unique brand of tunes. Both are great story tellers, uplifted by their honest, passion and love of music, you will witness Canadiana at its best. Their songs are sprinkled with an innate ability to craft music drawing on a huge spectrum of genres. Warm and charismatic and with a great set of pipes, Sam is famous for performing and belting it out while wearing his moo-moo and taking to the stage bare foot. The show will feature some of Sam’s well known songs such as Kodiak Wind, a song inspired by Moons experiences of playing in Alaska in the early 1970s with Matt. Railroad Man, based on dressing room talk among railway workers hes played hockey with for 35 years ,and the Cape Breton classic ballad the ‘Girls of Neil’s Harbour” Matt’s music and song writing has the natural universality one only hears from a born storyteller. The songs can be somewhat autobiographical as in Me and the Boys, a song about carefree days of his youth or social issues he puts forth in Long Way From Texas. Many of Matts tunes grapple with the universal feelings of passion, frustrations, hope, loneliness, love, disappointment and regret as well as his deep love of the Maritimes. They are always reflected his life around him and what he is feeling at the time. For all music fans to witness this reunion will put a smile on your face. You will be uplifted. Guaranteed. Up and coming shows will be announced soon.
