Full disclosure: my body isnt damaged; just my spirit! Waaaah! Forgive me cause Im gonna whine here for a bit (Ill take some cheese with the whine later at a more appropriate drinking hour) and I know only runner people understand. Im 99.9999% sure Ive just got a classic case of runners knee (top of kneecap, no visible swelling, only hurts when I run and after ... hence, why they call it runners knee, der right?) It doesnt hurt doing day-to-day stuff; only when I run. SO .... I took TEN days off after my last race (Sept 7) ; Ive been RICEing, stretching, rolling; Ive probably only run 15 miles in the last 2 weeks (which is way less than my norm -- about 20 miles/week); I bought a good brace and started wearing it on runs for support. Til today, I havent done anything more than 5 miles. But with Long Beach in 2 weeks, I need to up my distance so ... I head out for 8 miles this morning. It felt a little stiff but no pain. Mile 6 ... wham-o. Shots of pain just like a few weeks ago. Ugh. So, now Im running for a minute/walking a minute (or more) just to finish. Now Im just pissed. Pissed, pissed, pissed. Not because it hurts but because Long Beach is my LEGACY race and I always want to do my best there. I wanted to PR there. :( I know, I know .... (( Sigh )) ...... I will walk it if I have to cause not doing it isnt an option. Oh, and I know there is nothing wrong with walking. Lots of yall walk. I did my first two halfs as a walker. But, once you start finishing an hour+ faster than your walking time ... forgive me for saying but ... you dont want to go backward. The thought of being out there for 3+ hours is daunting. That is all. I just wanted to whine.
