Fumiko Hayashida passed away earlier today at the age of 103. Hayashida was one of the Japanese American residents of Bainbridge Island who were forced to leave their homes on March 30, 1942. A photograph of Hayashida and her 13-month-old child became an iconic symbol of relocation and incarceration. Watch this clip of a film about Hayashida or browse the oral history interviews with her available on Densho: archive.densho.org/Core/SegmentsByInterview.aspx?id=15
