Well contrary to popular belief, the hair on your head does not grow forever, it has a finite length just like eyebrows, armpit hair, leg hair, and animal hair. So technically you dont need a haircut and failing to get a haircut will not mean you have a train of hair following you around like a wedding dress one day. All hair goes through what is called an anagen phase. This is the growing phase of hair and it last for a period of time and then the hair will stop growing. For hair like eyebrows, armpits, and legs, this is a short phase resulting in short hair. Once the anagen phase ends, the hair will stay that length for a while and fall out. As soon as it falls out, it will restart the anagen phase which regrows the hair. This gives the impression that your body hair stays the same and your head hair grows forever. The truth is your head hair just has a longer anagen phase than most humans consider fashionable so we cut it prior to it reaching its full potential. If you want to know how long you can grow head hair, go 6 years without a haircut (assuming youre average) and you will see the maxim length your hair can be.
