Fun Fact Friday Followup: Great job everyone! There are two recognized subspecies of the Red Panda: fulgens (seen in top photo) and refulgens (seen on the bottom). Fulgens are found in the western part of the species range: India, Nepal and Myanmar, and are a bit smaller (10-12 lbs) with lighter colored markings around the face. The refulgens (styani) are found in the eastern part of the range, mainly China and average 14 - 16 lbs. with more distinctive markings around the face!
