Fun Fact...Staying on the topic of Legislative Day, back on March 15th 2007 (AAHAMs 3rd Leg Day), the primary issue we took to the Hill was a request for a contingency plan and dissemination database for the National Provider Identifier (NPI). There were almost 100 members in attendance and we met with Senate and House members from 26 states to let our voices be heard...and heard we were. The week following Leg Day a SWAT team of AAHAM leaders went back to Washington again to meet with key Senate and House members. It was no surprise that on April 2nd, CMS announced the release of a 12-month contingency plan for implementation of the NPI, as well as plans to make the data available from the NPPES system. This is a terrific example of how our grass roots lobbying efforts HAVE made a significant difference!
