Sept 2 - Anastasia Island Movie Club Tuesday - (PG13) This months selection is about a man coping with the institutionalization of his wife because of Alzheimers disease. Sept 5 - Gentle Stretching with Gina Friday - This free class emphasizes stretching, coordination of breath with movement, attention to alignment, and is designed to create breath awareness, enhance balance, and increase flexibility. Stretching is great for those who are experiencing joint sensitivity, or overall stiffness. Wear loose clothing, bring a towel & mat. Presented by yoga instructor, Gina Mercado. Inspired by the Lakota Indians, Raindrop Therapy uses therapeutic oils for balancing and rejuvenating the mind and body. When properly applied to the neck, back, and feet, these essential oils can bring about electrical alignment and help relieve a variety of discomforts caused by imbalances in the body. Sept 6 - Library Card Sign-Up Month: Librarians in the Movies Saturday Series - Join us each Saturday afternoon for a showing of one of our favorite librarian movies featuring Noah Wyle. Sept 9 - Date with a Documentary - (PG13) In this inspired, genre-twisting film, Oscar-nominated writer/director, Sarah Polley, discovers that the truth depends on whos telling it. Polley is both filmmaker and detective as she investigates the secrets behind a family of storytellers. She playfully interviews and interrogates a cast of characters of varying reliability, eliciting refreshingly candid, yet mostly contradictory, answers to the same questions. Sept 10 - STAND Against Bullying with Mark Alan Tuesday - STAND Against Bullying is a 45-minute program focusing on a serious topic in a fun manner. Using comedy, magic, ventriloquism, musical routines, and lots of audience interaction, Mark helps give kids the tools they need to take a STAND against bullying. Sept 11 & 18 & 25 - Tai-Chi: Enter the Healing Journey - In the first part of this journey into the ancient Chinese healing exercise, you will enjoy a brief overview of Tai-Chi. In class, students will perform soft, continuous movements that will allow them to receive many positive aspects of renewed health, while developing internal stillness. Some of the benefits of Tai-Chi include: relief from muscular tension and anxiety, increased concentration and memory, enhanced sensory awareness, and improved balance.
