Fun! Woke up to smelling smoke...plastic burning. Ran thru house to smoke, white and rolling, in the kitchen. See nothing. Grab phone, run dogs out, cats..opened window. Here I am in shorts and a cut off tshirt, calling 911. Reptiles are on their own as the smoke burnt my throat. Six fire trucks, ambulance, tow trucks, cops etc show up. The cat jumped off the fridge, turned on the stove to high. Mind you I havent used it since Joe died. I had two of his drills sitting on the stove. Well by some miracle the batteries only melted and didnt explode. Stove is dead, floor a mess, one broken window and a lecture and Im still here. Only smoke detector that went off was in the attic. One fireman found Suki my blind cat and brought her to me. The reptiles at least were in separate closed off rooms. The house stinks. My throat is on fire. Btw, not one single neighbor even looked out their door. Thank you Steger, Steger Estates and South Chicago Heights Fire Depts for showing up so fast and dealing with a crying woman
