Fun and games last night on my flight to Sydney. The flight I was hoping to get on had plenty of seats so was issued a boarding pass as soon as I checked in. About 20 minutes before departure there was a lot of activity at the departure gate with the Captain coming up and making several lengthy phone calls--not good. Then the announcement: delayed due maintenance--time unknown... A quick bolt to the service desk to jump ship to the next flight due out 30 minutes after mine and a request for the flight deck seat straight in. Luckily by the time they cancelled my original flight and moved all the passengers to the next flight--thus overselling it leaving no seats for staff--my new flight was too close to departure so they moved everyone to the flight after. Crisis averted. The joys of commuting :-)
