Fun brainstorming question....I would love everyone to think outside the box here about technology. We would like to look into the idea of creating an anti-bullying APP that would enable kids to safely report bullying. Realizing there are several different companies tackling this problem, we were thinking of a different approach and would love to get your thoughts, insights, opinions, suggestions. The idea below is just a thought that came to me, that I thought might add value - it is merely a thought. If you have some ideas on what might be extremely useful, utilizing technology, please share your thoughts. We have a developer who loves a good challenge so your ideas for bullying prevention could become something fabulous... Imagine this -- Each corridor of your school and each location is assigned a number (gym, cafeteria, locker room, restrooms,etc.) These numbers are visible (sign on wall or hanging from above, etc.). When bullying occurs, students only need to text in the number that identifies the location of the bullying incident. No names or personal info about the incident is collected. What is collected is a time stamp and a location. If 20 kids report an incident happened at the same time, this info could be useful for the administration, as they develop a way to tackle problems within the school. They may see patterns such as time/place. If someone observed something w/in a classroom, this may be a way for the teacher to get a heads-up should the bullying be happening in their room, just under the radar. If the bullying occurred on the bus, and several youth texted the code in showing which bus and at what time the problem occurred, the school could review footage (if there are cameras) to see what happened, and act accordingly. Again, this is just a random idea. It is sometimes VERY difficult for kids to report bullying but perhaps something simple, like just letting the school know that this hallway, at this time, is problematic, could be useful. What do you think about this idea and what other ideas do you have. Think creatively. There are no bad ideas. :)
