Fun in the Sun There are people who like Koi and there are Koi - TopicsExpress

Fun in the Sun There are people who like Koi and there are Koi people. One of the most unsung genuine Koi people is a certain UK hobbyists called Ronnie Dibble. Despite deteriorating mobility problems he continues to be one of the most enthusiastic and proactive Koi people. Following up on his 2013 success at the BKKS National, at the 2014 BKKS National Ron entered 7 Purdin Koi and won six prizes to contribute to making 2014 the most successful BKKS National for Purdin Koi to date! Thats impressive enough but theres another side to this guy that most people dont know about. Not known for being a shrinking violet or for offering a view, which incidentally is usually correct, because like many Ron has gained his knowledge the hard way - experience, but theres also a softer side and a generosity of soul thats noteworthy. We have a new young customer whom Ronnie has quietly taken under his wing, in addition to sound council, hes also given him his 2013 best in size 1 Sanke which was also 2nd best in size 1 irrespective of variety to help start his collection. Ronnie also donated to our newbie a rather special but very formative Tosai Showa that hed selected to grow. The Showa is now just over 2 years old and was brought back today to Topponds carpark by our grateful and very talented young apprentice, to show Ronnie how its coming along…well let you decide for yourselves as quite honestly i for one have only just regained the power of speech! The real point of this short story apart from enjoying this development of this amazing Showa, is to illustrate that not only is the genuine spirit of Koi Keeping alive and kicking its that very generosity of spirit and deed that remains the very essence of our fantastic hobby!
