Fundación En Vía Yesterday, Jacqueline Gould and I had a most amazing experience here in Oaxaca, Mexico. We spent the day visiting the homes and businesses of Oaxaca women participating in En Vias micro finance program. The tour was led by a fantastic Aussie, Laura from Sydney, a volunteer (donating months of their time without salary or benefits to assist the program). Additional volunteers on the tour were Saskia from Germany Kate from New Hampshire, USA Kim Groves, another fantastic Aussie, and a full-time employee for the past 2 1/2 of En Vía, organized and participated in tour. There were three additional participants like ourselves Sinead from Ireland Diane and Annis from the USA. I must tell you that when Jackie first suggested I participate in this Trip Advisor #1 activity/#2 attraction in Oaxaca I was a bit hesitant. Why? Because! tripadvisor/Attraction_Review-g150801-d1767193-Reviews-Fundacion_En_Via-Oaxaca_Southern_Mexico.html Was I wrong!! We visited six women that are participating in the micro finance short term no interest loan program. To see first hand and understand the impact that a loan as little as $100 USA can make in the the lives of these women is astounding. To understand the personal changes that each of these women have experienced becoming successful at their respective businesses, to see the confidence in each of the women as they talk about their personal business, the fact that they have borrowed various amounts of money, repaid the loans, and are continuing in the system to further their businesses certainly indicates to me: There is something right with this World! Jackie and I look forward to supporting the amazing work of Fundación En Vía into the foreseeable future.
