Funeral Mass for Anthony Tony Joseph Morlino, 95, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church. He died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Magnolia Gardens, Greenville. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. Mr. Morlino was a lifelong resident of Leland where he graduated from Leland High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army after graduating from Officers Training School and was discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He married Elma Bassi of Rosedale and was a longtime retail grocery merchant retiring in 1970. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council, a member of Leland Lions Club, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, First Leland Investment Club and the 4th district Planning Commission. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosie Giardina Morlino, his wife, Elma Bassi Morlino, son, Anthony Morlino, Jr., 2 sisters, Mamie M. Campbell and Sarah M. Countess and 3 brothers, Buster, Charlie and Sam Morlino. He is survived by his daughter Patty M. Mathison of Madison, son, Mike Morlino (Ginger) of Greenville; 3 grandsons, Hank and Chris Mathison and Greg Morlino and 5 great grandchildren, Kate, Mae, and Carter Mathison and Reece and Jase Morlino. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
