Funny! Listening to this song for an upcoming gig (turns out Ive heard it before) I didnt realize the author was a black dude (Bonny Mack Rice). All this time Id heard other musicians saying Oh those Caucasian audiences just eat this song up! Also, if a black band played it (younger I guess), they made it sound like they were doing some unconventional sh--! Like Oh, we even play Mustang Sally. Yep! I know, I know. Not expected...but we do! Its like the entire thing flipped in a few generations! So naturally I assumed it had to be one of those songs (never interested enough in this type of overly popular music that musicians loathe playing, to actually check it out.), not some ole skool Motownish funk! Buuuut NOPE!
