Funny Singapores scary-funny #1 Yesterday, as I was going into a POSBank, I held the door open for a heartland aunty. Not a look or word from her as she stepped out. Right behind her was a heartland uncle who also stepped out with not a word or nod or look. I said aloud 谢谢 (thank you) to each of them as a sarcastic nudge as they passed, the words simply drew a blank. The blank was not even a scowling-blank but a total blank-blank. I instantly broke into a chuckle because it dawned on me then that I was witnessing Dr. LKY Zombies! Funny Singapores scary-funny #2 Yesterday, I was talking to a cab-driver about China and Singapore. I surprised myself saying this - Communism was what unified China in the earlier part of the last century. What unified Singapore? I know! They often say, were small, we need to survive, hence we must do this, this and this. Therefore, considering that were very uniquely Singapore, our political system is a unique first-&-only new system called Small! Theres Socialism, theres Communism, theres Democracy and theres Small! I dare say, no other country has such a unique work-in-progress political system thats intrinsically Singapore - Small! And ours is not a Hitler salute but simply a hand raised slightly up with a half-wink look now called face-palm. Hahahahaha.
