Funny. True. Via Mark America (January 3rd) FoxNews still isnt on Dish Network after the contract dispute, and some Republicans(as opposed to actual, thinking conservatives) are mighty upset. They have a Dump Dish campaign going on, and frankly, its laughable. FoxNews has been less and less conservative over the last few years, and more and more Bush Family News Network, so I dont mind. I dont miss Bills bloviations, Megyns Wow moments every 30 seconds, Sheps moving mugshot, or any of the other myriad indicators of FoxNews less than conservative viewpoints and slant. Truth be told, this whole thing is a ploy by 21st Century Fox to get higher fees, and to get Dish Customers to pay them, so Kudos to Dish for holding the line. The truth is that I like my home being a Rove-free zone, but I wish some folk who consider themselves conservative would take this as a moment to reconsider. Why are you supporting FoxNews, when theyve become the pro-amnesty channel, and after moving the only plausibly conservative show into the weeds of the 10pmEST time-slot? Add to the fact that Hannity seems to have been mostly neutered by the requirement to have a lot of liberal Republican and leftists guests and commentators, and what I notice is that FoxNews has moved left, presumably to accommodate Jeb and his views. Lately, it seems, FoxNews has been nothing but a mouthpiece for the Bush family position, which tends to stand in stark opposition to Reaganesque conservatism. Ive never liked mush-mouthed moderates, and I suppose its therefore no surprise that I dont miss FoxNews so much. The lack of that channel on Dish wont make me dump Dish, but in fact tends to make me like Dish Network more, because at least theyre trying to hold the line on prices. Thats the ugly secret that should be obvious to the Dump Dish crowd, which doesnt seem to understand that any increase in cost associated with increased fees for 21st Century Fox will wind up on their bill: If Dish relents due to their demands, they will pay more for FoxNews and for other channels they dont want. Sadly, due to economic mis-education rampant in our society, they will subsequently blame DISH! You see, they only see the dollars and cents once it hits their bills. They dont get a bill from 21st Century Fox, but from Dish Network. This sorry affair is no different from the Federal Government forbidding the TelCos from spelling out exactly what all the additional fees and taxes are, line by line, on consumers phone bills. That way, the government and all its agencies which levy taxes and fees on phone bills are shielded from direct criticism by consumers. 21st Century Fox is counting on the same mind-numbingly simplistic ignorance among Dish Network customers, for exactly the same reason. If I were Dish Network, I would add a line to the bill that says 21st Century Fox fee hike adjustment and carry it as a line item forevermore, and Id probably include phone numbers for 21st Century Fox and FoxNews offices so hacked-off consumers would know who to call. Naturally, expecting that to gain any goodwill for Dish Network depends upon consumers knowing their butts from holes in the ground, and of course, this is a purely rhetorical exercise in sheer fantasy.
