Funny...alive for six decades and just beginning to understand myself. I never watched The Sopranos, had no interest in the Family or life in New Jersey. I didnt watch Sons of Anarchy, had no interest in motorcycle gangs. Now, I am growing desperate that SONS is going to end soon....I am on the fourth season and while I should be working on my next theatre production, while I should be writing my book, while I should be researching EMS services in other towns, raking leaves, fixing rain gutters, sweeping the chimney, ...I am watching the fifth episode in a row and its only 9:26am. Friends, you are probably waaay ahead of me on this, but like Breaking Bad, like Boardwalk Empire....Sons of Anarchy has become my drug of choice. If there is a 12 step program I dont know about it. Maybe its watching old episodes of Friends as an antidote to SONS all I know is that this story takes my breath away literally....I find myself exhaling finally after two or three minutes of silence following an episode. Where did this writing come from? How did all this happen? They speak of the Golden Age of television....well this age that brings us Sons....is so far beyond all that which has gone before,, its almost laughable. I would laugh myself...but I cant breathe. If you have the ability to binge, I suggest you watch Sons of Anarchy...its Hamlet, Macbeth, The Odyssey, The Bacchae, Death of a Salesman, Needle Park, Casablanca, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dog Day Afternoon, Uncle Vanya, the Charry Orchard, Cyrano de Bergerac, All Quiet on the Western Front, Citizen Kane all wrapped up in a story about a motorcycle club in Charming, California. Its breath-taking and reality-altering like nothing I have ever experienced. So its taken 60 years to find out, beyond all else, beyond my seeking the exhaltation and violence of football, beyond risking everything on the broadway stage, beyond my pursuit of glory and fulfillment in writing directing, acting, painting,...I am in reality.... just a kid sitting by a campfire mesmerized by the best stories i have ever heard. jgh
