Funny dad moment tonight. Tori has finished her shower and is cuddling in our bed, unwinding to get ready for bedtime. She asks: can you get me a hair band from mommys drawer so I can put my hair up? Now, I pride myself on being a girls dad. Its my FT gig. In fact, tonight, I had three of them. But, this hair stuff....not in my wheelhouse. I reply um, Ill try... and head toward Amys vanity. She tells me: 2nd drawer. I look. I dont see hair bands. Huh is all I say. Still standing there, staring into the drawer. She lets out a big sigh, throws the covers back and stomps in there. She pulls out a small purse like object and holds it up with attitude. In here..., she says, as if pointing out Mount Rushmore. I found the brush, if you need that I point out my triumph. Ok, thanks. Good job. That wasnt condescending at all. About then, Amy Brownlee Phillips comes in and asks if Tori wants to put her hair up. They work together and in 3 minutes its done. I want to point out though....I found the brush. A critical part of the operation. Me. Brush. Youre welcome. Somebody let me know if I can saw something with my Dewalt. That #%^^ I can do.
