Funny flashback story; I remember when I was a bike messenger in the early 80s in NYC, by the West Side highway making a drop off, beautiful sunny day, I spotted this chick with a gigbag on her back. I pulled up along side her, peddling in stride to her walking uptown and proceeded to make some light pick-up line conversation, oh you play guitar, yeah I play blues, how long you been playin? And so on... She told me she played jazz and was working with some Larry Coryell dude who I was unfamiliar with at the time... (I had only started getting my music together and was ass deep and blind to anything but pre-war blues...) She was polite but resistant and I moved on after a while, disappointed I didnt get her phone number, only her name; Emily... It was many years later that I discovered it was actually the exquisite jazz virtuoso guitarist Emily Remler who I made a play on that day... Unfortunately she is no longer with us but heres a great instruction vid that Ive learned a couple of moves from myself over the years;
