Funny how life works out... I was often picked on (still am) for my last name. Obvious reasons.. Throughout middle school/high school. I hated my last name. I have always been excited to get married and change it. That changed tonight. We went to applebees w/ my mom, dad & brother. When we told the hostess our last name, she asked, are you related to Carlos Hathcock? YEP. Dont know who that is? HISTORY LESSON: Carlos Hathcock was a US Marine Corps Sniper with a service record of 93 kills. One of those he shot by a round fired through a scope mounted Browning M-2 .50 caliber machine gun from an unbelievable range of 2500 yards. There are multiple books/website articles on him. He died in 1999 from MS. Later into our dinner a marine came to our table saying he just had to meet the distant family members of Carlos Hathcock. I felt honored.. So I found a whole new respect for my last name. Even though I knew we were related, it took that marine coming to our table tonight for me to realize how thankful I should be for it. SO, TAKE THAT BULLIES!!!! ;)
