Funny how some people are writing that Obama messed everything up in Iraq and how he should not get involved because of that. First of all, the Iraqi war was authorized by the Bush administration in 2003. At that time, Obama was a Senator and strongly opposed to this military operation. After the collapse of Saddam Hussein, Al Qaida used that opportunity (the country was entirely destabilized and political institutions collapsed with Saddam and Baas party) to get inside Iraq with financial assistance from Gulf states. When Obama was elected in late 2008 and came to office in January 2009, everything was already messed up. So when these jihadists are killing Christians, Kurds and other minorities all accross the country, it isnt because of Obama who messed everything up, but because of the previous administrations decision to invade Iraq. The White House is intervening in Iraq in order to prevent atrocities being done and a possible genocide. And as opposed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, the U.S. administration has the legitimate authorization from Iraqi government led by al-Maliki.
