Funny how things go round. My brother Joe ran across a song played on Regis & Kathy Lees show years ago, sung by Peter, Paul & Mary. Its called, Give Yourself to Love and been a old favorite of mine. Its writer was singer / songwriter Kate Wolf, from northern California. I found her in conjunction with other women artists in the 80s, like Holly Near and Margie Adams. My friend Beaver Perkins and I liked music with harmonies and we would often sing to cassettes of Kates, driving in my white bug back and forth from Rochester to Houghton, NY for Beavers chemo treatments. Ironically about the same time that Beaver died of lymphoma, Kate Wolf, also in her mid 40s, died from acute leukemia. Kate was given the very serious diagnosis and prognosis not long after she debuted at Austin City Limits. If you dont know Kate, I thought Id introduce you in the next few posts. This one is called, Eyes Of a Painter, for those who had beloved grandpas.
