Funny story. I met a lady online who was giving away a bunch of Christmas decorations. When I went to pick them up tonight, I walked into her storefront....which was a 100% organic non-GMO project verified health food store. What are the odds?? Hahahaha oh my. She was really nice, and while I was perusing the $7 organic spices and $8 processed organic Mac and cheese, I politely started to pick her brain.... Where she gets her products, why organic is better, blah blah. I was SHOCKED at how little she knew about farming practices. While believing organic doesnt use pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc, had NO CLUE how many acres are farmed from the local places she buys from, the types of methods, and use of non-synthetic chemicals involved. I acted curious to know more....because Im a conventional corn and soybean grower and want to learn more about organic methods. While speaking about the fact organic uses real manure on their fields as fertilizer, I was like....oh yeah we do that too! I know all about it! Then how they till different crops into the soil to put back nutrients I said, oh yeah we do that too! No till and cover crops....yeah its awesome! Funny how she diverted the subject and told me to just ask a local organic farmer because she couldnt really speak to it much more than that... I stalked her page and found oodles of support and comments on food babes post....OH NO! Dare I tell her Im the Farm Babe? Lolol now I just dont know what to do....do I still use her pretty Christmas decorations? Or will I just be reminded of food babe ignorance every time I look at my Christmas tree? Im so torn.....
