Funny story: Last night, in a shadier part of downtown LA, my car was taken hostage, presumably overnight, locked in a car lot while we were watching the taping of a sitcom. Mind you, we were DIRECTED ON OUR TICKET to park in this particular lot, but someone changed his mind without telling us. Needless to say, this was not good at all. We were stuck in scary downtown LA with no transportation, and a cab would have easily cost us $100, unwanted stress, and 2 hours of my life (and I think I would have had to pay extra just to get the cab to come there in the first place!). The problem really wasnt our fault, and the security folks at the studio jumped in to help us get to our car. I was still freaking. Cait was a cool cucumber. After about 45 minutes of attempting to get in touch with the owners of the lot, finally one of them, an older Asian lady who hadnt smiled in easily over a decade, finally arrived. Unfortunately, she was not about to give me my car. I showed her my ticket that instructed me to park there. I reasoned. I whined. I was even downright ugly-acting. But Dragonlady wasnt going to budge. I was just about to give up when dragon lady and I were interrupted by the most pitiful sound silencing our heated debate. We both looked at Cait, who now had tears POURING down her cheeks. She was shaking, and her voice cracked when she said, Lady, can we please just have our car? PLEASE? Im so scared! I started crying, Dragonladys heart of ice melted, and she quickly disappeared into an office to get the key. See, Mom, Cait whispered, almost giggling, Those acting lessons are good for LOTS of thing! In under 5 minutes, we were in our car with downtown LA in our rear view mirror.
