Funny story to pass along to you good people this morning. While the Bradleys of Benton, Ark., have the Prius tied up to ye ole hitching post outside this here Hilton, understand that unlike my wife, I have only HEARD about room service. I prefer to get my nutrition from vending machines and waitresses named Flo. So I dont understand proper room service etiquette. I was walking the halls to the room last night and one door down I see it in all its polished silver beauty sitting on the floor. The fact that it was sitting on the floor should have been key to me. But nooooo. I was thinking, Dang, they just leave your tray by the door whether you open up or not! And then curiosity got the better of me. What was underneath that glistening silver dome? I imagined the finest filet mignon draped in a creamy peppercorn sauce, mashed taters shaped like Mount Olympus, and perfectly tournéed vegetables. Maybe a simple slice of pie under the other dome? I dont know, lets not over do it. Well, hell, if its just laying in the hall like a trash can on a curb? Im going to take a peek. Like the super sleuth that, I am I look left, right, then left again. I go in for the sneak peek... Ugh. Three fries and a half-eaten pickle spear in the middle of a Jackson Pollock ketchup rendition. Disappointed and ashamed by my new found dumpster diving skills in the middle of such a swanky place, I turn toward home and notice an audience of one with that same dejected and disgusted look in his eye a few doors down. What do you do? Head down, key in, close the door behind you. Thats what you do. I hope I dont see him today, but how awesome would it be to catch him in the middle of his Sunday brunch and sneak a few hash browns? Would he be cool with it after witnessing my possum like abilities last night? Or would he freak out and make such a big deal over small potatoes? :)
