Funny thing is, growing up I viewed Martin Luther King Day as that - TopicsExpress

Funny thing is, growing up I viewed Martin Luther King Day as that day in January I got off from school, but these days it is hard to take this day for granted. Many people have died and sacrificed so much for me and generations to come. Just so I can eat in any restaurant of my choosing, sit anywhere on a bus that I like, watch a movie in a theater without a problem....VOTE, along with other simple, then segregated pleasures!!! There are many names we can celebrate today, as well as many grandparents and parents who have lived during the Civil Rights Movement and marched in the trenches for the cause. I am THANKFUL.....VERY THANKFUL. We have a long way to go, but we have come so far. (IF YOU ARE READING THIS WHILE OUT AND ABOUT...TAKE 5 SECONDS AND LOOK AROUND...and say THANK YOU) HAPPY REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY EVERYONE!!! Go find an elder and tell them THANK YOU...(I bet they were involved with the movement) #real
