Futuristic Modern Mansion Embeded in Nature-The Winged House in Singapore by K2LD Architects Inspired by the Malay architecture, this futuristic modern mansion opens up to the surrounding environment offering spectacular views and a luxurious backyard landscaping design. The shape of the pot has dictated the unique form of the house, which embraces the garden forming between them. The backyard landscaping design features a series of gentle slopes covered in freshly cut grass. The North Eastern part of the site features a luxurious swimming pool that emerges from the shape of the modern mansion and it’s covered by the angled wooden roof. This intimate space is integrated into the living space and is perfect for family gatherings and private parties, especially due to its private atribute, being surrounded by exotic vegetation. The ensemble, along with the roof and the terrace, turn out to be a relaxing ambient which invites people to enjoy the exterior exotic environment. However unusual, the extensive roofline takes into account the exotic location allowing a great deal of ventilated spaces, which are demanded by the tropical environment. Imposing and one of a kind, this futuristic modern mansion-The Winged House emphasizes the architectural need of creative and intriguing projects we face nowadays and sets out a milestone for residential buildings More details from K2LD Architects: “In the intermediate space between two forms is the main entrance foyer and Living room which is flanked with two feature natural split granite walls, contrasting its heavy presence with the lightness of the roofs and vertical timber lines of the house. Timber is extensively used throughout the house, choosing a lighter color timber (Burmese Teak) for the underside of the roofs versus the darker wood (Chengai) as the infill medium (ie: the sun-shading screens) to create a play of depth of the façade. The vertical timber screens not only help in providing shade from the harsh sun, but it helps blend the house with the lush vertical tree trunks of the surrounding greenery. The Winged House, in its formal expressions and material language, results in an abode that sits snugly in its context in a quiet ‘winged’ embrace of the site and dwelling within.” Homesthetics conclusion: A tropical, luxurious and futuristic modern mansion that combines modern architecture with local materials and beliefs, resulting in an intriguing project that represents both parts.
