Fw: Gene Warber Assistant Scout Executiv - Gene Warber, Assistant Scout executive passed away suddenly at 1:30 AM on Monday, June 24 at the Chesapeake General Hospital. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 30th at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 5401 Indian River Rd., Virginia Beach 23464. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jackie; sons, Mike of Chesapeake, and Jesse and his wife, Alyssa of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Stacey of Virginia Beach; brother, Al of Tacoma, WA; and grandchildren, Caden and Mia Warber of St. Petersburg, FL. Gene has served as a Boy Scout professional for 35 years receiving his commission in 1978 after his successful completion of 23 days of training at the Schiff Scout Reservation in New Jersey. Additionally before becoming a Boy Scout professional Gene served as a local council employee. Gene served successfully as a professional in five different Boy Scout Councils in Illinois, Ohio and of course Tidewater Council. In addition to his professional work with the Boy Scouts of America, Gene served in numerous Scouting volunteer positions including Scoutmaster and Post Advisor. Gene was also a Vietnam Veteran and very proud to be a United States Marine. As you read this, realize that almost every person in the Tidewater Council can attributed something to Gene Warber including thousands of the youth whom he would track down individually if necessary to get the proper paperwork so that they could join. Gene was always there for everyone and it is hard to imagine that he is no longer with us. Gene was all out for Scouting and he hopes you all will carry on the tradition. We are sure that Gene left a great legacy. By the way, Gene would want your son to attend camp, Day Camp, Resident Camp or Boy Scout camp.........but remember that the word Scouting has the word outing as the last part.
