You can be based in Rockland, Westchester, Northern NJ, Nassau, or the five Boroughs) We are conducting a search on behalf of our client, an award winning, highly regarded computer consulting firm that provides network and system support for small to mid-size businesses. We are seeking an experienced Field Support Technician. The Field Support Technician must have a car and will be reimbursed for all travel expenses. This position brings a tremendous amount of diverse technical environments and room for professional growth. The Field Support Technician is primarily responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of desktop, laptop, server hardware, software, and associated peripherals. Duties of this position include the installation, configuration, and support of operating systems and applications; participation in remote site administration; and production support activities. Highly motivated individual will work with latest technologies in this arena - Install and configure new computer hardware and software (mostly Windows based) for clients at the customer site - Perform installations, repairs, upgrades and complete configuration of Computer and related peripherals at the customer site - Perform repairs, upgrades and complete configuration of servers, switches, routers, backup and related peripherals at the customer site - Troubleshoot customer issues at the customer site or via remote access - Take service calls (phone or email) and either resolve them or pass them on appropriately - Utilize Service Desk system to maintain records of requests and responses for support issues - Hardware/Software installs and upgrades - Assist in the administration of a Windows environment TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Competency in installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware, software and networking issues on PCs and related equipment - 3 years - Windows Desktop Operating Systems - 3 years - Windows Server - 3 years - Enterprise Antivirus Software - 3 years - Directory Services (Microsoft) - Printer Administration OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - Excellent people skills (you need to really have excellent people skills as you will be representing the company) - Ability to concisely describe or summarize a problem and steps taken to diagnose and resolve it, in writing - Ability to deal with a diverse population, including strong accents - Willingness and ability to learn new skills and use new types of information - Responsibility and reliability - Ability to prioritize and perform triage - Discretion and good sense in dealing with clients - Willingness to see a problem through to its resolution Compensation of $70K - $100K depending on technical competency and experience.
