Professor BN Goswami had written a book on Indian Painting which was named as Indian Painting: Themes, History and Interpretations. This book was released by Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh in New Delhi. Goswami is a Professor Emeritus of Art History at the Punjab University Chandigarh. In 1998, he received Padma Shri and in 2008 he received Padma Bhushan. He also achieved Rietberg Award from Switzerland for Outstanding Research in Art History. 6. A Joint Exercise INDRA 2013 started in Mahajan Field Firing Range in Thar Desert of Rajasthan. This was started by Indian and Russian armies. This exercise is aiming at improving bilateral defence cooperation between two armies and enhances their ability to operate as integrated forces in a well coordinated manner. This will continue till 28th October 2013. This is the 7th Indian and Russia Joint Army Exercise. 7. Outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai; the largest ATC (Air Traffic Control) Tower of India was inaugurated. Length of this tower is 84meters which is equal to 30 storied building. Prithviraj Chavan, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Ajit Singh, Civil Aviation Minister inaugurated the tower. Area covered by this tower is 2800 square meter. It also helps to reduce the workload of controllers and enhance safety and capacity of the airport. 8. Saudi turned down United Security Council Membership, accusing the powerful body of Double standards a day after it won a seat on it. Saudi Foreign Minister has stated that country has no other option but to turn down security council membership until it is reformed and given the means to accomplish its duties and assumes its responsibility in preserving the worlds security and peace.
