G&T GEOGRAPHERS HELP WITH INTERNATIONAL TREE SURVEY Eleven Year 10 Gifted & Talented Geography students had the exciting opportunity to take part in an international tree survey in conjunction with Sidmouth Arboretum today. The results from the survey will be used to help provide researchers in the US and the UK with detailed information about numbers of trees, species, dimensions and health, along with land use mapping and other information that will be entered into a US database so that trees can be given economic value. The students carried out degree level fieldwork alongside their teacher Mrs Gill, with the help and guidance of Sidmouth Arboretum and TreeCO2nomics. The data they collect will be published internationally and so they will be named in an innovative global project. The project has been piloted in Torbay and details can be found at the following website: treeconomics.co.uk/i-tree.
