G-TECH now hiring Software Development Engineer SUMMARY: : Software Engineer will assume the responsibility of designing, developing and verifying a suite of software tools for rack-mounted hardware. Direction will be provided by the Project Manager / Architect. Daily tasks will include working close with hardware engineers, software engineers, component and system vendors as well as troubleshooting manufacturing related issues. RESPONSIBILITIES: : Development, documentation and validation of a software tool capable of verifying inter-connectivity between rack-mount servers, Ethernet switching gear and storage arrays within a 40U rack. : Development, documentation and validation of a software tool capable of verifying the software/firmware revisions of each system component in a 40U rack. : Creation of a database and instructions for all tools required to manually update firmware/software system components in the field. : All other duties as requested by supervisor or department head. REQUIREMENTS: : Extensive experience writing Linux shell scripts is a must (bash preferred). : Extensive experience writing Expect scripts (or equivalent) is a must. : Experience writing SW that utilizes SNMP and SSH is a plus. : Experience with Extreme x440 & x670 switches is a plus. : Perl programming experience is a plus. : C/C++ experience is a plus. : Embedded OS experience is a plus. : Technical training on general purpose servers, external data storage, and switching gear is a plus. : Strong documentation/software commenting skills. : Excellent troubleshooting skills. : Ability to multi-task. : Self-starter and motivated. : Must be able to work with minimum input/guidance. : Broad overall technical skill set of both general and special purpose hardware. : Good communication skills. : Associate degree in Software Engineering or equivalent with 2 years or more of related experience. : Ability to read, write and speak English fluently is required. : Ability to compose reports and design reviews. : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish fact, draw valid conclusions and follow through to closure with manufacturing or suppliers.
