GAIL SHEA TO SEEK RE-ELECTION IN EGMONT Tignish, Prince Edward Island (January 15, 2015) - The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Regional Minister for PEI and Member of Parliament for Egmont, today issued the following statement: “Serving the wonderful people of Egmont in Ottawa as their Member of Parliament since 2008 has truly been an honour. I have never taken for granted the fact that this is a privilege, entrusted to me by many people from across all walks of life and from diverse communities across the riding. I am pleased to announce today that I will once again put my name forward, and ask for voters in Egmont to consider re-electing me as MP. I am proud to be a part of Prime Minister Harper’s team, and to be a part of the important work that our government has done to help support Canadians and their families get ahead, even during difficult economic times. We’ve introduced tax relief for seniors, and are signing trade agreements with countries that will expand markets for PEI businesses. And our new Family Tax Cuts will benefit every family with a child under 18 across the province. It’s been an honour to be a part of announcements totalling over $600 million here in Egmont and across PEI since being elected, and I am proud to see federal transfers to PEI at record highs. I am seeking re-election because I want to continue to help advance government initiatives that invest in key infrastructure, our local economy, and the health and safety of Canadians.
